Lakes Eagles win 35-14, led by quarterback Brett Gardner

The Lakes High School freshman team opened up their conference season by pounding the Vernon Hills Cougars 35-14 at home on Saturday.  The Eagles got off to a 35-0 halftime lead behind the stellar play of quarterback Brett Gardner, who was 6 for 6 with 160 yards passing and two touchdowns.  The team also had big plays from receivers Michal Tomasiewicz (3 catches 80 yards, 1 TD), Mike Brey (1 catch 38 yards, 1 TD) and tight end Alex Murray (1 catch 36 Yards).  The ground game was lead once again by running back Cameron Johnson (16 carries 190 yards, 2 TD). read more >

Brett Gardner and the Lakes team played in the All-American 7on7 league the last 2 years.
